WHY DESIGN A RESORT IN VIETNAM

As an architect with many years of experience, I would like to share the reasons why professional resort design plays a crucial role in resort business.
Vietnam is a tourism market full of potential with high competition. Investing in design is not just about creating a beautiful space but also about building a “brand” for the resort. A unique resort design, harmonious with the natural landscape and maximizing advantages, will create a deep impression, helping your resort stand out among countless other options.
Professional design also ensures the optimization of functionality and economic efficiency. From reasonable space layout, the use of sustainable materials, to the integration of high-end entertainment amenities, every detail is carefully calculated to provide the best experience for guests, thereby increasing the return rate and creating sustainable revenue.
Don’t just build a place to rest; create a destination. That is the key to success for any resort project.

RISKS OF POOR QUALITY RESORT DESIGN
As an experienced architect, I must emphasize that poor-quality resort design carries numerous risks that can ruin an investment project. A hasty, poorly thought-out design not only affects aesthetics but also leads to serious economic and operational consequences.
The first risk is a lack of attractiveness and uniqueness. A resort designed superficially, without highlights, will easily be overshadowed by competitors. This directly reduces the ability to attract customers, leading to low business performance and occupancy rates not meeting expectations.
Next are issues related to functionality and safety. A poorly executed design often does not carefully consider movement flow, technical systems, or load-bearing structures, causing inconveniences in operation and even posing dangers to guests. This can lead to unfortunate incidents, affecting reputation and incurring significant repair costs.
Finally, unsustainable design can lead to resource waste, failing to take advantage of the terrain and nature. This not only impacts the environment but also diminishes the long-term value of the resort.
Resort design is a strategic investment, not a cost to be cut.
5 KEY FACTORS TO CONSIDER WHEN DESIGNING A RESORT TO LEAD THE MARKET AND OUTPERFORM COMPETITORS IN VIETNAM
To create a high-class and superior resort, an experienced architect like me will always focus on the following five core factors:
Creativity in Concept: A successful resort must have its own story, a unique idea expressed through architecture, interior design, and services. This idea needs to be linked to local culture, honoring nature, and creating an experience that cannot be replicated.
Optimizing Customer Experience: The design must place guests at the center. This includes reasonable space layout to ensure privacy, integrating unique entertainment amenities, and creating beautiful views from every position. A sophisticated design will provide absolute relaxation and evoke emotions.
Sustainability and Environmental Friendliness: In the current context, the use of eco-friendly materials, energy-optimized designs, and harmony with the natural landscape is not only a trend but also a mandatory requirement. This is a key factor that helps resorts build a sustainable image and attract environmentally conscious travelers.
Technical and Economic Feasibility: A great design must be feasible. This requires careful calculations regarding structure, materials, and construction costs to ensure that the project can be completed on time and within budget, providing the highest economic efficiency for investors.
Unique and Distinctive Highlights: To stand out, a resort needs a unique “specialty.” This could be an impressive infinity pool, a rooftop restaurant with a stunning view, or a unique meditation garden, creating an unmistakable signature.
COLLECTION OF BEAUTIFUL RESORT DESIGN MODELS IN VIETNAM
Resort design styles not only shape the experience of guests but also directly affect accessibility on online platforms. Below are the trending resort design styles that help investors create a mark and attract potential customers:

With a cozy and close-knit space, rustic design is very popular among travelers who love tranquility and want to return to nature. STANDARDS – REGULATIONS – NATIONAL STANDARDS RELATED TO THE DESIGN AND RANKING OF RESORTS IN VIETNAM
Resort ranking standards
The ranking of resorts in Vietnam is based on the National Standards (TCVN) issued by the General Department of Tourism and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. Although TCVN 4391:2015 mainly regulates hotel rankings, the criteria regarding location, architecture, amenities, services, and hygiene are similarly applied to resorts.
The ranking criteria for resorts from 1 to 5 stars include:
Location and architecture: The resort must have a favorable location, easy access, and a clean and beautiful landscape environment. The architecture must meet business requirements, with functional areas arranged logically and harmoniously with nature.
Amenities and equipment: Items from guest rooms, restaurants, public areas to other amenities must fully meet and be appropriate for each star rating. For example, a 5-star resort requires high-end, luxurious equipment, with a presidential suite.
Service and service quality: There must be a professional, well-trained staff. Services such as dining, entertainment, spa, swimming pool, etc., must be diverse and of high quality.
Security and safety: Ensuring fire safety and security for guests and property. Emergency exits and surveillance cameras must be adequately arranged according to regulations.
Environmental protection and hygiene: The resort must have measures to protect the environment and effectively manage waste. Guest rooms, restaurants, and public areas must always be clean and ensure food safety and hygiene.
Design Standards and Regulations
When designing a resort, architects must comply with state construction regulations to ensure the safety and sustainability of the project. Some important regulations and standards include:
National technical regulation on construction planning (QCVN 01:2021/BXD): Regulates principles of overall planning, building density, building setbacks, ensuring harmony with the landscape.
Design standards for resort villas (TCVN 12870:2020): This standard specifies general requirements for the design of resort villas, from architecture, clear height, minimum room area to safety and sustainability requirements.
National technical regulation on fire safety for houses and buildings (QCVN 06:2022/BXD): This is a mandatory regulation requiring resorts to design fire prevention and fighting systems, emergency exits, and building materials that meet safety standards.
Compliance with these regulations not only helps resorts achieve high ranking standards but also creates a safe, quality, and environmentally friendly resort environment, thereby increasing value and customer trust.
